Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has achieved 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He rescued 4 initial chances in a tight final set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
